Seeing all this, Crocodile also thought of sending his babies to Fox’s school. The next morning, he went to the school of Fox along with his seven hatchlings. Fox said, “Mr. Crocodile, in seven days you’ll find your sons have become great scholars and brave fighters.” With great happiness, Crocodile returned to his house. Days passed in this way. Crocodile saw no trace of Fox. One day he laid on the ground as if dead. Fox saw the crocodile and thought it had died. But Fox we know is very cunning. To be double sure, he went near the crocodile and said, “O how honest he was! But how did he die? Hmm there should be symptoms to prove he is dead! The ears should flap and tail should clap.” Now crocodiles don’t have ears. So foolish Crocodile turned his head and slapped his tail on the ground.
A STORY FROM THAKURMAR JHULI
Fox was sure now that crocodile was alive. So he shouted at the shepherds, “Look, here is the crocodile that ate your animals few days back!” The shepherds came with their sticks and started beating the crocodile. Fox ran far away from there.
