SALUTATION FOR FORMAT OF LETTER
Dear Sunaina,
INTRODUCTION FOR FORMAT OF LETTER
Hope you are in good health. I am extremely sorry to reply to you so late. My father took us to Darjeeling for a holiday. I was very excited as I went to Darjeeling for the first time. Darjeeling is called the ‘ Queen of hill stations ‘ and now I understand why it is nicknamed so.
BODY FOR FORMAT OF LETTER
We decided to reach Darjeeling from Siliguri by the famous ‘ toy train ‘. It’s really a thrilling experience traveling on a toy train. The train goes around the hills and I was mesmerized by the beauty of the hills and the valleys. We also saw a number of waterfalls on our way. The most interesting thing about the toy train is its speed. The train goes at such a slow speed that passengers get down from the train and run along with it and again board it easily.

Even I tried to do the same and believe me SunainaI also could run along the moving train and I easily boarded it again. Another important fact about the toy train is that it is the only train in the world that it goes back to go up! It follows a “Z” path to travel. It really goes zigzag. In this way, it reaches a point called the “ Batasia Loop “. Here it makes a figure of eight (8). Here you can see another unbelievable sight. All the passengers get down and climb the hill and watch the train come up. Have you ever heard of such a train anywhere else in the world? It also goes through lovely tea gardens.

You can even smell the tea leaves. On reaching Darjeeling I found each and every corner has its own beauty. The scenario from our hotel balcony is so wonderful. Every morning we can see the Kanchenjunga for a short while. Another worth mentioning part of Darjeeling is to watch the sunrise from the “ Tiger Hill “. We had to get up at 2:30 A.M to reach the place. Hence we reached there much before sunrise. We saw the place was already crowded.

The sky was clear without a speck of cloud and we were very fortunate to have a very clear view of the sunrise. It was so bitterly cold that we were all shivering inspired by arming ourselves in warm clothes from head to heels. We saw some people had even come wrapping themselves in blankets. We drank cups and cups of coffee to stop shivering. The sunrise was at quarter to five. Immediately after the sunrise, everyone rushed to see Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. It shines like a diamond under the rays of the sun.

On our way back to the hotel we saw the Kanchenjunga. The peak looked mesmerizing bathed in the rays of the sun. The sun rays on the snow-capped peak give it a golden hue. It seems someone has wrapped the peak with a sheet of gold. Darjeeling is also home to a variety of orchids. The color and uniqueness of these orchids will leave you spellbound and speechless.
CONCLUSION
Sunaina, I would suggest you also visit Darjeeling once. I am sure the beauty of Darjeeling will attract you too. Today I would end here with lots and lots of love for you. Give my regards to my uncle and aunt.

SALUTATION
Dear Saikat,
INTRODUCTION FOR FORMAT OF LETTER
It has been a long time since I have heard anything from you. Today I want to share with you my experience of a wonderful picnic I attended last Saturday. The picnic was arranged by our school. We were taken to a farmhouse at a place called ‘ Badu ‘.
BODY FOR FORMAT OF LETTER
All the students reached school at 7 in the morning. After some time we got on the school bus and started for the picnic. We sang and enjoyed ourselves a lot on our way to the picnic spot. We even shared and ate the biscuits and chips brought by us from home. On reaching the spot we were amazed at its beauty. The place is removed far away from the pollution and the hustle and bustle of the regular city life. It has a pushy green surrounding.
INFORMAL
The air that we breathed was so fresh and sweet. As soon as we reached the spot we were asked to sit down and have our breakfast first. We had a delicious breakfast of puri, aloo dum, and sweets. Immediately after the breakfast was over our teachers started with various games that they had arranged for us. Many games were there and for each game there were prizes. I won the first prize in the memory game and the third prize in the musical chair.
INFORMAL
After the games were over there was a short function. Songs were played and we all formed groups and danced. We even played dumb charade. It was such fun when the guessing was incorrect. Many of us had never seen a village before. So we requested our teachers to take us around the village. So few of us who were interested were taken by two of our teachers. The rest went busy playing cricket and badminton. It was a wonderful little village.
INFORMAL
The small cottages looked very sweet and pretty. We spoke with the villagers. They were so nice and friendly. They gifted us fresh vegetables from their fields. We felt so happy. When we returned to the picnic spot it was already time for lunch. So we immediately sat down for the lunch. The lunch like the breakfast was also very delicious. At about 4 p.m we left the spot and started for our school. We all were very sad to think that the picnic was over.
CONCLUSION FOR FORMAT OF LETTER
It will be very wonderful if our family also arranges such a picnic. We shall enjoy ourselves a lot. Today I end here. Give my regards to my uncle and aunt.
